Two of the most widely used standards for charging electric vehicles (EVs) are Type 1 and Type 2 AC charging.
North America is the primary market for type 1 charging, which has a comparatively modest power output. This standard has a five-pin plug charging cord and port that are situated on the front of the car.
On the other hand, type 2 charging is utilized throughout Europe and other parts of the world. It is more frequently utilized in public charging infrastructure and has a higher power output. The Type 2 charging wire and connector is situated on the side of the car and has a seven-pin plug.
To charge EVs, alternating current (AC) power is required for both Type 1 and Type 2 AC charging. The battery capacity of the EV, the infrastructure for charging, and the capacity of the charging station it is connected to all affect the charging speed and power output.
